This is the drawing of the gondola from the draft General Arrangement for RV Investigator. A General Arrangement is the plan for the ship, it tells the engineers and ship builders what goes where and what features the ship has.
This is what the gondola looked like when the draft General Arrangement was first published.
This is where we started seeing work on the gondola in the shed.
Since then the gondola has progressed significantly.
I agree with you, it does look like a space shuttle. The RV Investigator is going to be huge.
